Falling Out of Grace

Waves breaking against

her fragile body with

forceful vengeance.

Shattering mind, heart,

spirit contained within.

Scattered pieces of her

now buried in the sand,

alike many broken shells.

Now only her head

remains, only hollow

shadows peer out;

days ago they held

eyes closed in slumber.

a conscious mind

dwelled behind them,

her dreamed visions

she was to write solely

to enchant the gods.

She was captivated by

their words in response

of her dreams. one day

she choose to weave

her words with those of

the gods, causing her demise.

for this she fell from grace,

sanctioned too silence

by them. She grieved

for the loss of their favor.

her sorrow so great, grew

to become the wave.

Matthew 28 ~ 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

*Note: The word Pietà finds its origins in the Italian word for “pity” and the Latin word for “piety”, giving it a sense of “compassion” and “devotion” altogether. Apparent from the depiction of Mary and her dead son in her lap, the compassion of the mother towards her dead son is quite obvious. My musical choice is I love Air by Bach & Pietà by Michelangelo. The video shows detailed features of the sculpture and its humanistic elements.
